Board of Directors
Peter Tilden -President works at OMG, Inc. and volunteers at the Agawam Historical Society. Pete has been connected with Valley Educational Associates for a long time through various projects. He is most proud of his facilitation in hiring four program participants as full-time supported employees at OMG. His dedication to the mission is founded upon helping Valley Educational Associates reach their goals so the programs can offer a more inclusive community while offering participants the opportunity to live fuller lives.
Barbara DiClementi -Secretary, Treasurer works at the Thom Westfield Infant Toddler Services and volunteers at the Special Olympics, in addition to serving as a Valley Educational Associates’ board member. Barb is passionate about seeing the program participants reach their potential, by being the best they can be. Her son was a participant for 14 years at Valley Educational Associates.
Betty O’Brien is a full-time caregiver and student. She is a member of Alpha Beta Gamma, Phi Theta Kappa, and volunteers her time as the Legislative Ambassador for the American Cancer Society, a public speaker at Fisher House Boston, and at Relay for Life Quaboag Valley as a committee member. She was particularly drawn to serve on the Valley Educational Associates’ board of directors because of her passion about helping, supporting, and advocating for people with disabilities.
Cindy Shea Desroches works at the Holyoke Postal Credit Union. She is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and The American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. She also is a notary public and volunteers on Holyoke St. Patrick’s Day Parade committee. Cindy is passionate about Valley Educational Associates’ mission because of her first cousin, Mark, who had disabilities during the 1960’s; and how the care and supports differs so greatly from today. She recalls the hardships and limited resources her aunt and uncle faced. Cindy hopes as a member of the board she will have a positive effect on the lives of our program participants, their families and guardians, and the staff at Valley Educational Associates.
